Through AACC’s partnership with Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) of the Chesapeake, you can learn to become an electrician's helper in 30 days. This entry-level training in the electrical field can be an important step toward becoming a licensed journeyman electrician.

Job Outlook

The electrician job market is projected to grow in the coming years and there is a steady demand for electrical helpers:

  • According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, potential employment growth is expected to be 14 percent through 2024.
  • Electrical helpers can expect to earn $15 per hour.

Training Overview

  • OPA-323 Electrical Helper 1
    • Learn the fundamentals of electrical theory, residential wiring and commercial wiring.
    • Learn how to recognize National Electrical Codes.
    • Students will receive their OSHA 10 safety training.
