The Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism Institute is offering a professional cake decorating program.
During this 15-week program, students will practice professional standards of cake production, developing and enhancing cake decorating skills. Topics include mixing methods and cake production, with emphasis placed on the preparation of quality baked cakes, wedding cakes, special occasion cakes, butter creams and various decoration techniques.
This continuing education certificate program is designed for individuals pursuing career training in professional kitchen skills. Students will receive instructions on cake production and decorating techniques. Two classes are required for completion:
HCT-333 Certification in Sanitation
HCT-363 Professional Cake Decorating
Note: Completion of HCT-333 is a prerequisite/corequisite for HCT-363.
The program costs $1,096 for Anne Arundel County residents, including tuition and fees.
Students must purchase an HCAT uniform.
Supply fee will cover:
“Population and income growth are expected to result in greater demand for specialty baked goods, such as cupcakes, pies and cakes, from grocery stores, retail bakeries and restaurants. Employment of bakers is projected to grow 5% from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for all occupations.”
