Internship Office

The Internship Experience

The Internship Office facilitates the process of placing students in internship opportunities where students can apply classroom theory to real world employment practices. Examples of internships are: a practicum, a rotation, an externship, cooperative education (“co-op”), and fieldwork. Internships can be paid or nonpaid, part- or full-time, and credit or noncredit experiences. Internships for credit are semester-based. A typical three credit hour internship would require a minimum of fifteen hours of work experience over a fifteen-week semester, or thirty hours of work experience over a summer term. For more information, call 410-777-2475 or e-mail Tony Teano, the Internship Program Coordinator at internships@aacc.edu.

How can the Internship Office help me?

The role of the Internship Office is to assist students, faculty members, and employers in creating unique engaged learning experiences. The Internship Program Coordinator:

  • Serves as a single point of contact for campus-wide internship issues
  • Coaches students’ professional development
  • Cultivates new community partnerships
  • Serves as a liaison with departments and helps coordinate students’ interests with internship opportunities
  • Facilitates employer job postings and student searches

Certain schools of study at AACC must address state requirements for their internships and consequently have staff specifically dedicated to attend to those issues. Learn more about these schools of study.
