America Film- Love, Death, Afterlife | No class on Sept. 7 | This course is specially designed for connoisseurs of film, we will watch and discuss movies from the 1930s onward that explore the themes of love, death, and the afterlife. You will see Topper, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Meet Joe Black, and many other classic movies that draw upon ancient themes like the myth of Orpheus and Euridice. This ten-week course is taught by Richard Striner, the first historian to write about this subject.

Section Info: Online | The Rise and Fall of American Women 1915-1950 | Explore how two World Wars and dramatic shifts in education, work, and family transformed American women between 1915 and 1950. Using fashion and popular culture in American history as lenses, this course reveals how our mothers navigated upheaval and how these changes shaped the attitudes and experiences of later generations in American society. Note: Attendance in online class sessions Thursdays from 2:00-4:00 p.m. is mandatory for section 301.
