HTH-901 COSR-Dance

Section Info: Omalley Senior Center | Dance | No class May 25 | This class is designed to strengthen the cardiovascular system plus tone muscles through aerobic dancing. It is a professionally choregraphed workout by Jacki Sorensen for healthy people who want to stay fit in a fun, effective way. Hand-held weights and floor work are used for a portion of the class to help improve strength and flexibility. Easy dance steps are taught and cued throughout. Upbeat music is used beginning with the warm-up to the cooldown. This is a beginner to intermediate class for students who enjoy a wide variety of music and movement.

BNS-906 ANSR-Ceramics

Section Info: Annapolis | Design, Marketing and Art of Ceramics | No class May 25. | Students will work on pieces of their choosing and at their own pace. A supply list with sources will be provided. Students will learn painting techniques using various glazing techniques to acquire a glass-like finish or staining with acrylics paints and using additional methods by enhancing with antiquing and dry brushing. Glaze firing is provided at the center. Section Info: Arnold Senior Center | Wood Carving-Beginner Novice | This wood carving class is designed for absolute beginners, including those with no experience or who have not carved in many years. Instruction focuses on hand tools only-knives and gouges-with no power tools used. Students learn tool selection, basic knife cuts, sharpening, wood selection, pattern application, pyrography, and painting. Because tools are extremely sharp, safety and basic first aid is emphasized. A Kevlar carving glove and leather thumb guard are required.
