Section Info: Arnold Senior Center | Wood Carving-Beginner Novice | This wood carving class is designed for absolute beginners, including those with no experience or who have not carved in many years. Instruction focuses on hand tools only-knives and gouges-with no power tools used. Students learn tool selection, basic knife cuts, sharpening, wood selection, pattern application, pyrography, and painting. Because tools are extremely sharp, safety and basic first aid is emphasized. A Kevlar carving glove and leather thumb guard are required.
