STP-510 Central Sterile Processing

Central Sterile Processing Technician | This program teaches students to handle medical equipment in a safe and sanitary manner. Topics covered in the course include methods of sterilization, decontamination, storage, packaging, and distribution of both sterile and non-sterile medical instruments. Students learn to assess the condition of medical and surgical equipment for sterility and proper function, which can include removing instruments for maintenance or replacement. CEUs issued. $2,050 includes $50 fee. Prerequisites: High school diploma or GED and attendance at orientation. Note: Full attendance and passing the final exam required. English as a Second Language students must earn a composite score of 310 or better on the Level of English Proficiency exam, or successfully complete Capstone Level ESL coursework. Student must apply to take externships: A limited number of externships are offered, and students will be selected. If selected students must register and pay for externships: STP-505, STP-506, STP-507 and STP-508. Note: Student must be 18 and have at least an 8th grade reading comprehension to be successful in the class.
