BIO-231 Human Biology 1

Learn the biologically significant inorganic and organic molecules and their relationship to human anatomy and physiology, the structure of cells and tissues, cellular physiology, the fundamentals of inheritance and the anatomy and physiology of the integumentary, skeletal, and nervous systems. A course primarily for the two-year nursing program; sometimes accepted as transfer credit. Students are advised to check with the four-year transfer institution. Four-year nursing students usually take BIO 233 and BIO 234. Lab fee $15. Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENG 101/ENG 101A and either eligibility for any general education math or a score of 27 or better on the Arithmetic Placement Test or a B or better in MAT 005. Note: Credit is not given for (1) both BIO 101 and BIO 231 or (2) both BIO 230 and BIO 231 or (3) both sequences BIO 231 - BIO 232 and BIO 233 -BIO 234. Students enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician and Massage Therapy certificate programs should consult their program advisor for math eligibility.
