Security Guard Training | Explore requirements for Maryland security guard certification. Examine the legal boundaries of what a security guard is authorized to do under state law. Learn to recognize criminal behavior, apply Maryland criminal codes and understand arrest/detention authority. Study the definitions and limitations of use of force, de-escalation techniques and how to intervene responsibly when conflict arises. Learn effective communication strategies, methods for interacting with vulnerable populations and techniques to respond safely when aid is needed. CEUs issued. $124 includes $18 fee. Note: Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate that meets the MPCTC?s entrance-level training objectives and will be prepared to pursue employment in security roles across corporate, campus, event, healthcare, transportation and government settings. Students must be 18 years or older. This course is approved by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions to satisfy the 12-hour initial security training.
