Basic Gardening | Learn what makes right plant, right place principles work. Discover how to choose, grow and multiply the plants in your garden. Discuss how to build healthy soil for perennials, trees, shrubs and vegetables, and identify proper techniques for mulching, pruning, watering and maintenance of a thriving landscape. Native plants as well as ornamentals will be discussed. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Section Info: Severn Senior Center | Basic Gardening | No class on May 23 | Students will learn basic gardening techniques for the home garden to take them through the gardening year, from design through planting, maintenance, harvest and ecological methods of putting the garden to bed in the fall. We will cover soil composition, planting, pruning, propagation and care of seedlings, pest control and plant disease.
