What is New Student Orientation?

The orientation program is designed to ease your transition into the college and prepare you for academic, social and personal success. Each orientation session is designed to meet your specific needs, regardless of your age or previous college attendance.

  • High school graduates learn how to set realistic academic expectations and when and how to access student support services, such as academic advising and student life.
  • Adult students learn about the many campus resources that can help them meet academic rigors while taking into consideration the various roles and responsibilities confronting them at home and at work.
  • If you have attended other post-secondary institutions, the value of attending an AACC orientation is that you learn how to navigate our ystem.
  • All students will hear from faculty regarding classroom expectations and specific policies and procedures.

New Student Orientation

During orientation you will the opportunity to:

  • interact with staff and faculty
  • access your registration information and your e-mail account
  • ask pertinent questions about programs of study, important dates to remember, academic support services, and the placement testing process and how it influences course selection.

The orientation program is full of useful information that students can use during the first few weeks of class. By the end of the orientation session, you will be able to identify academic and student support services, understand faculty expectations, college policies and know what it takes to be successful in college.

Orientation sessions for new students are offered at various times during the year and in various formats.
