Each class, students will be engaged in exploring drawing with pencil, charcoal, colored pencil and more. The instructor will guide, discuss, and critique. Participants will explore, share and converse over creative ideas while nourishing their own weekly project.

Section Info: Pasadena Senior Center | Acrylics | In this class, students will learn skills to paint a variety of nature scenes on elements from nature including rocks, driftwood, oysters shells, crab shells and more. Advanced and beginner students are welcome. Class is designed to be a relaxing and fun exploration of painting and art! Please come to the first session to see examples of painted elements and discuss supplies. Acrylic paints and brushes are required for this class. All nature elements will be provided by the instructor.

MUC-912 SCSC-Fundamentals of Guitar

Section Info: South County Senior Center | Fundamentals of Guitar | Learn the essentials of acoustic guitar playing, including how to strum and/or pluck with basic chord changes and how to play simple one-line melodies. Explore the history and evolution of the acoustic guitar, pick up common guitar terminology and slang, and have plenty of opportunities to ask questions as you build confidence and skill. No prior experience is required. Note: Students should bring their own playable guitar to each session.

Class will review the basics of art design and color theory before advancing through the fundamental essentials. Art venues will be identified, and artwork salability and marketing opportunities will be discussed. Supplies will be discussed in the first class.

Section Info: Online | Chinese Calligraphy | Chinese calligraphy is a refined art form with five main styles, from informal to elegant. Characters express balance, proportion, and rhythm through precise stroke order and spacing. Influenced by Zen Buddhism and Taoism, the practice is meditative. Students will also explore exhibition opportunities and potential markets for their work. | Note: Attendance in online class sessions Tuesdays from 9-11 a.m. is mandatory for section 313.
