Section Info: Online | Music Masterpiece: Romantic Russians | This course explores the development of Russian music from its early lack of a national tradition to its emergence as a distinctive cultural force. Students will study the rise of native composition with Mikhail Glinka, the nationalist movement of the "Mighty Fistful," and the blending of folk elements with Romanticism.
