Examine basic pharmaceutical medicine related to the practice of dental hygiene. Discuss general principles, medications that alter dental treatment, and dental hygiene considerations. Describe drugs that are commonly used in dentistry and potential adverse reactions, characteristics and mechanisms of drug actions, pharmacokinetics, clinical pharmacokinetics, and routes of administration. Prerequisites: DHY 120, DHY 122, and DHY 124 with a grade of C or better in each course. Corequisites: DHY 200, DHY 202, and DHY 206.
