Engage in conversations on and write about familiar topics using simple sentences in the present, near future, and past. Identify main ideas in short informational and fictional texts. Compare cultural products, practice, and perspective of Spanish-speaking communities. Prerequisite: SPA 111 or SPA 140 or one year of high school Spanish or permission of department chair. Note: Also offered as SPA 112H; credit is not given for both SPA 112 and SPA 112H. Credit is not given for both SPA 112 and SPA 141 and also SPA 141H. Not for native speakers.
