ANT-121 Intro Cultural Anthropology

Explore the diversity that defines human experience and apply cross-cultural thinking to contemporary social problems. Introduce the concepts, theories, and methods of cultural anthropology with a focus on holism and cultural relativism. Using an ethnographic approach, examine various aspects of cultures across the globe, such as subsistence strategies, political organization, social identities and hierarchies, marriage, family and kinship systems, religious behavior, health, language, creative and artistic expressions, and issues of power in relation to colonialism, socio-economic discrimination, and global inequalities. Note: Also offered as ANT 121H; credit is not given for both ANT 121 and ANT 121H.
