MDC-103 Introduction to ICD Coding

Learn the basic coding guidelines using the current ICD coding classification system. Practice the application of diagnosis and procedure codes validating coding accuracy using clinical information that would be found in the health record. Apply and promote ethical coding standards while adhering to current regulations and established guidelines in code assignment. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Medical Coding Certificate Program or permission of the program coordinator. Corequisite: MDC 101 and MDC 105 (formerly HIT 218).
