Dr. Dawn Lindsay, Champion of Philanthropy

On June 30, 2026, Dr. Dawn Lindsay concluded her tenure as president of Anne Arundel Community College. The AACC Foundation thanks Dr. Lindsay for being a true champion of philanthropy throughout her tenure. Her leadership and support have been invaluable in strengthening the culture of charitable giving at AACC and expanding opportunities for our students and our community.

Throughout her presidency, Dr. Lindsay collaborated closely with the AACC Foundation to transition philanthropy at AACC from an events-driven fundraising program to a robust major gift approach that achieves strategic outcomes. In 2017, AACC launched its first-ever comprehensive campaign, which raised nearly $10 million in support of the college and led to the opening of the Clauson Center for Innovation and Skilled Trades. This new building on the Arnold campus was funded solely through philanthropic dollars. The Clauson Center offers workforce development programs that can lead to life-changing careers for students in just a few short months.

Under Dr. Lindsay’s leadership, the foundation has seen donor-funded scholarships increase significantly, with over $1.8 million disbursed to students in the 2024-2025 academic year alone — up from $460,000 10 years ago. This 290% growth reflects the college’s commitment to making higher education accessible to all members of our community.

In recent years, new scholarship offerings have been added to address the critical workforce shortage and support students facing rising living costs. Scholarship categories now include entrepreneurial studies, skilled trades, registered nursing, allied health and workforce development.

“Community problems need community solutions. Donor support through the AACC Foundation makes it possible for AACC to help more people prepare for rewarding careers that our community needs,” Dr. Lindsay said. “I am proud of the work we have accomplished together to support our students and make our community stronger.”

As Dr. Lindsay closes this chapter, the AACC Foundation offers its heartfelt appreciation for her partnership and leadership. Her dedication to student success and her belief in the transformative power of philanthropy will continue to shape AACC and the community for years to come. We are deeply grateful for all she accomplished during her 14 years at AACC as a champion of philanthropy.
