Section Info: Online | Drawing | Improve your drawing skills by learning basic visual tools like the rules of thumb, relational measurement, and simplified measuring systems. The course includes exercises to enhance your drawing abilities. Students can choose to draw posted images or their own selections, primarily using pencils and charcoal, with optional watercolor pastels. You'll learn to create thumbnail sketches and how to evaluate and work from photographs | Note: Attendance in online class sessions Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. is mandatory for section 217.

Section Info: Pasadena Senior Center | Advanced One Stroke Painting | This class is geared towards experienced students. Focus will be on a more in-depth exploration of strokes like flat stroke, U-strokes, Daisy strokes, bud strokes, tear drop stroke, easy petal strokes, shell strokes/wiggle strokes, leaf strokes and learn more about the supplies needed. Discuss opportunities for marketing and sale of completed projects. Supplies needed for class will be discussed at the first session. It is recommended that students wait to purchase supplies. Attendance at the first session is highly recommended.

Section Info: South County | Multimedia Drawing Studio Practice | Develop your artistic skills, personal style and understanding of color theory, composition, creation of depth, texture and historical styles of art covered in the introductory Colored Pencil Drawing course. Students are encouraged to continue exploring wax, oil, watercolor, pastel and other types of colored pencil combined with various drawing and painting media such as pen and ink, markers, watercolor, acrylics and other mixed media techniques for enhanced and varied effects. Intermediate to advanced students are welcome.

Beginners will learn materials and pastel application methods through demonstrations, while advanced students will explore art principles and new techniques. Students will discover pastels as an exciting alternative to traditional painting methods. Individual attention is provided, and topics like framing, exhibiting, and shipping pastels will be covered. Students will paint their own subjects or images chosen by the instructor, with an emphasis on individuality, taking risks, and working from photographs. | Note: Attendance in online class sessions Tuesdays from 1-3:30 p.m. is mandatory for section 204.

Section Info: Pascal Senior Center | Acrylic Painting | All levels welcome! Hone drawing, planning, and composition, then master a three step acrylic method that prevents muddy color. Demos and critiques guide you through personal or instructor provided subjects and invite bold experiments in pen, ink, collage, and mixed media. We will also survey exhibition venues and sales opportunities. Note: Supply needs are explained at Session 1- please wait to buy materials and try to attend the kickoff class.
