Approximately 1,759 students will graduate with 2,278 degrees and certificates on Thursday, May 21, at this year’s commencement of Anne Arundel Community College.*
College officials expect about 700 graduates to participate in two ceremonies at The HALL at Live!® Casino & Hotel Maryland, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The first ceremony will include graduates from the School of Health Sciences and School of Science, Technology and Education. The second ceremony will be for the School of Business and Law, School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, and School of Liberal Arts.
A total of 778 students will graduate with honors. The college’s two valedictorians will address the graduates and guests. The valedictorians are selected through interviews with students who earned a 4.0 GPA and accumulated at least 50 credits at AACC.
Jaclyn Gambone, education professor, and Timothy Mayhill, English assistant professor, will also speak. These faculty members, chosen by students, have demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Chris Chambers, president of the Student Government Association, will give the charge to the graduates to conclude the ceremonies.
The commencement ceremony will be shown live on AACC's YouTube channel, and up-to-date information can be found on the commencement webpage.
*The numbers of graduates, degrees and certificates are unofficial and usually change after all grades and appeals have been finalized.
