The Anne Arundel Community College Board of Trustees unanimously voted to appoint Dr. Tanya Millner as the college’s interim president effective July 1, 2026, following Dr. Dawn Lindsay’s retirement June 30. Millner has served as provost and vice president of Learning since August 2021.
"The board has full confidence in Dr. Millner’s ability to guide the college through this period of intentional transition,” A. Joyce Price-Jones, chair of the AACC Board of Trustees, said. “She is the right leader to provide the continuity needed as the college prepares for new presidential leadership and clarifies faculty representation so faculty and administration can work together in service to the college’s mission and vision.”
The board selected Millner based on her institutional knowledge, academic background and commitment to students. At AACC, Millner provides leadership to five schools of study: Business and Law, Continuing Education, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts and Science, Technology and Education. In addition, the Division of Learning oversees college strategic planning in conjunction with the college’s president, teaching and learning advancement, research and institutional effectiveness. Millner is also responsible for learning outcomes assessment and program reviews, instructional and curricular planning, faculty and instructional staff hiring, promotion and tenure and budget management. At the board’s direction, she has led a comprehensive review of the college’s academic portfolio and resources, strengthened transfer agreements statewide and expanded the Early College Access Program that provides high school students the opportunity to take college courses while in high school.
“I am honored to serve AACC during this important time as we build upon the solid foundation provided by Dr. Lindsay,” Millner said. “This is a time of significant changes at the college, but each change is part of a broader effort to strengthen the institution to deliver exceptional learning experiences for everyone at AACC. I am committed to supporting our students, employees and community as we move forward together.”
AACC is conducting a national search for its next president with a goal of naming a new president by the end of December 2026 with a preferred start date of July 2027. In April, the Board of Trustees announced a search committee to lead the process beginning with recruitment that will launch later this month. Additional details about the presidential search are available online.
"I have every confidence that Dr. Millner will support the college's strategic plan," said Dr. Lindsay. "I know her to be a caring and brave leader who will continue to move AACC forward as a dynamic, student-centered college."
During Dr. Lindsay’s 14-year tenure, AACC expanded facilities, strengthened academic programs and navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Major projects included the Health and Life Sciences Building and the Clauson Center for Innovation and Skilled Trades, along with renovations across campus. She also established the college’s first chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer and guided AACC through two successful accreditation reviews.
