A Little More

Joe Johnson spent 27 years as a police officer, a job he describes as “a wonderful way to help people and make a difference in our community.” Now he encourages AACC students to consider a similar career path. Since 2009, he has taught courses in criminal justice, police operations, homeland security and counterterrorism.

Johnson shares his passion for criminal justice with students during in-class discussions. He often incorporates real-life lessons and challenges in his teaching so students can understand the implications of what they’re learning in the classroom.

AACC students are a source of inspiration for Johnson, who said he is impressed with how they “manage life demands, work multiple jobs, all while focusing on their family and their education.”

Outside the classroom, Johnson is passionate about his Christian faith and spending time with his family, including his wife of 40 years, two daughters and two granddaughters.
