What courses will I take?

Nail Technician training consists of four noncredit courses (two theory, two clinical) to be completed in three to six months. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to sit for the Maryland Board of Cosmetology Nail Technician exam.

What credentials can I earn?

Students who successfully complete the required courses will earn an AACC Continuing Education and Workforce Certificate, and are eligible to sit for the Maryland Board of Cosmetology Nail Technician Exam.

What is the job outlook?

Employment of manicurists and pedicurists in the state of Maryland is projected to grow 18 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. New types of nail services, such as mini-sessions and mobile manicures and pedicures, may drive employment growth. High turnover and a growing number of nail salons will result in very good job opportunities.

What are the Requirements?

  • Attend a mandatory information session.
  • Must be 17 years of age and have High school diploma or GED.
  • Must pass a reading assessment prior to enrolling in the program.
  • 8th Grade reading level or higher
  • A desire and willingness to work in the nail technician field upon completion.

What is the cost?

$2,988 for Anne Arundel County residents, including tuition and fees.
