A Little More

Tiffin Bumpass believes in the transformative power of health education and wellness to enrich lives, strengthen communities and foster lifelong resilience. Her journey — from serving as academic chair in Health, Fitness and Exercise Studies to her current role as assistant dean of Health and Wellness — has been guided by a deep commitment to empowering individuals through knowledge, movement and holistic care.

Overseeing diverse disciplines such as kinesiology, public health, physical therapy assisting, massage therapy, human services and medical assisting, she is continually inspired by the intersection of science, compassion and service. Teaching part time in the Kinesiology program allows her to stay connected to students and the evolving field she loves, while her earlier roles at American University and her work with the National Center for Health Fitness have shaped her understanding of the broader impact of health promotion, from federal agencies to local communities.

Her academic foundation in women’s health, educational administration and health promotion informs her belief that wellness is not a destination but a dynamic process — one that requires intentionality, equity and access. Whether mentoring future health professionals or participating in events like the Annapolis 10 Mile Run, she strives to model the values she teaches: perseverance, balance and joy in movement.

She believes that health and wellness education is a catalyst for change — one that equips individuals to lead fuller lives and inspires communities to thrive.
