Key Benefits

Academic coaching provides practical strategies for long-term success. In coaching sessions, you will build skills in:

  • Time management and planning
  • Organization and prioritization
  • Study strategies and note-taking
  • Goal setting and accountability
  • Motivation and persistence
  • Preparing for exams and managing school-related stress
  • Connecting to campus resources and student support services

Program Expectations and Participation

If you take part in academic coaching, you should:

  • Attend scheduled sessions on time.
  • Communicate often with your coach.
  • Engage in the coaching process

You should come ready to discuss goals, challenges and progress. Between sessions, you should complete the agreed-upon action steps. Persistent participation builds skills, increases confidence and leads to meaningful academic progress.

Program Guidelines

What academic coaches do help you with:

  • Skill development
  • Academic success strategies
  • Navigating resources

What academic coaches do not do:

  • Complete assignments
  • Provide therapy or personal counseling
  • Make academic decisions on your behalf

Coaching complements (but does not replace) classroom instruction, tutoring, advising or counseling services. You remain responsible for your coursework and academic performance. These guidelines clarify the scope of coaching and set expectations for both you and your coach.

Attendance and Communication

You are expected to attend scheduled sessions. It is important to communicate with your coach if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you repeatedly miss appointments or fail to communicate, you may lose your coaching services. We want to ensure coaching opportunities remain available to other students.
