Scholarships for Teachers and Child Care Providers

In addition to the general grant, loan, and scholarship programs described by financial aid, there are several special aid programs targeted directly toward students pursuing teaching degrees.

AACC Scholarships for Teachers

The AACC Foundation also offers several scholarships targeted toward teaching students (Ernest and Lena Florestano Scholarship, Drs. Robert E. and Lila R. Schwartz Scholarship, Lisa Lynn Troyer Memorial Scholarship, and the Beverly H. Zimmerman Memorial Scholarship). To apply for all foundation scholarships, please complete the AACC Institutional Scholarship Application.

Child Care Career and Professional Development Grant

The Child Care Career and Professional Development Grant funded by the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care provides funds for individuals working in child care to pursue coursework that leads to a certificate or degree related to the child care field.

You may qualify if…

  • You have at least one year of child care experience.
  • You are participating, or eligible to participate, in the Maryland Child Care Credential program.
  • You have an interest in a pursuing a degree in early childhood education or a related field.

  • You will then need to contact Amira Westenburger who will walk you through both the grant and registration process.

Continuing Education Job Training Scholarship

If you are completing noncredit training for the CDA, Family Childcare Provider or 90-hour Preschool Childcare, you may be eligible for funding. For more information and an application, review the Job Training Scholarships information in the noncredit cost and payments section of our website.

Maryland Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant

The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) offers this grant to students who plan to work in certain career fields including teaching. For more information, visit the MHEC web site.
